Exploration Team

The exploration team is led by Matthew Wunder, P.Geo, Vice President of Exploration who joined Rubicon in June 2007 bringing over 28 years of diverse experience. In total, the Rubicon exploration team has over 170 years of combined experience and together the team possess solid geological abilities, in addition to strong skills in technologically advanced computer applications, including 3D modeling.

In December, 2010, the Association for Mineral Exploration, British Columbia (AMEBC), announced that Rubicon's Phoenix Gold Project exploration team was awarded the 2010 Colin Spence Award for excellence in global mineral exploration. The team consists of: David Adamson, Chairman, Matthew Wunder, VP-Exploration, Ian Russell, Terry Bursey and Crystal McCullough.

Ian Russell, B.Sc. (Hons.), Manager Special Projects

Ian is a senior geologist and brings over 20 years experience to the Rubicon exploration team. Ian joined Rubicon in 1996, and has been actively involved in the exploration of the Red Lake projects since 1999. Ian's experience and dedication to exploration have proven invaluable to the advancement of Rubicon's 100% controlled Phoenix Gold Project. His longstanding presence in Red Lake has developed excellent local community, business and government relations. Prior to joining Rubicon Ian worked in the Kirkland Lake Camp at the Macassa Gold Mine with Kinross Gold. Previously he spent five seasons with government (GSC and Saskatchewan Provincial Survey- Energy and Mines) in Nunavut, Northern Saskatchewan and Northern Manitoba as a mapping and research geologist.

Terry Bursey, B.Sc. (Hons.) P.Geo, Manager Regional Exploration and Community Relations

Terry is a senior geologist and brings to Rubicon over 25 years experience with both major mining and junior exploration companies (Homestake Inc., Barrick Gold, Teck Corp., Ashton Mining of Canada Inc.). She joined Rubicon in January 2003 contributing diverse experience that has been key to the management, budgeting and partner relations of the various Red Lake projects. Prior to joining Rubicon Terry's geological experience includes work in VMS deposits (Eskay Creek Mine, BC, Palmer project, AK), diamond exploration (NWT, AB, QC) and Orogenic Lode Gold of Archean Greenstone Belts. She also spent seven seasons with government (DIAND, GNWT, GSC) in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

Crystal McCullough, B.Sc.(Hons.) P.Geo, Project Geologist (Regional)

Crystal joined the Rubicon exploration team in 2002, contributing her expertise to Rubicon's Newfoundland projects, focusing on low sulfidation epithermal and VMS environments. Crystal has been actively engaged in the Red Lake projects since 2005 both on the regional programs and part of the discovery of the F2 zone on the Phoenix Gold Project. Her observation and analytical skills has proven to be a valuable contributor to the successful advancement of the exploration programs.

Richard Greenwood, B.Sc.(Hons.), Manager Geology - Phoenix Gold Project

Rick graduated in 2004 from the Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Earth Sciences. He joined the exploration team of Rubicon in May of 2009 on the Phoenix Gold Project. He previous experience included work he previously work in the Red Lake Greenstone belt with Wolfden Resources (Premier Gold Mines Ltd.) on the discovery of the Rahill – Bonanza property, also spending over a year on the Rainy River Resources discovery near Emo, Ontario in 2006. Since 2003 he has worked with several other junior exploration companies and Government in both Newfoundland and Northern Ontario on various styles of deposits including epithermal gold, VMS, and uranium.

Andrew Quinlan, B.Sc., Geologist – Phoenix Gold Project

Andrew joined Rubicon in January of 2010 upon graduating with a B.Sc. from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. He spent five summer seasons with various junior exploration companies exploring for gold, base metals and uranium both in Newfoundland and Nunavut. His experience includes logging core, grass-roots prospecting and underground mapping. Andrew contributes to the underground development and drillhole target planning on the Phoenix Gold Project.

Terra Dittenhoffer, B.Sc., Geologist – Phoenix Gold Project

Terra graduated with a B.Sc. in Geology from Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia in 2009. She joined Rubicon’s exploration team in October of 2010. Her experience includes diamond exploration with Chalice Diamonds in the Wawa/Missinabie area of Ontario. Her experiences are comprised mostly of grassroots prospecting, soil and grab sampling and property scale mapping.
